gavinvr6 0
guys (and gals) i got a wee prob with my beast, after a rather spirited drive back from portsmouth tonight and a sprint or 2 against a jag and a bmw my car developed a strange fault, the cat was glowing red and i lost atleast 80% of my power, and had a really loud and burbling exhaust note coming out the back box, after stopping for 2 mins to have a look i set off again with the same prob but after about half a mile it stopped and returned to normal, then about a mile from home (another 1/2 mile later) it started again, stupid question but is it the cat or is something more sinister going on? i need to know as im going back to portsmouth again on friday and need the car. please help as i dont know nothing about vr's yet im still learning, oh ive looked through the service histry and receipts and it looks like its still on its original cat after 123k,

gavinvr6 0
folks, ive changed the cat and the lamba sensor to be safe as the old one is well and truley stuck in the old cat and is probably knackered because the cat was glowing, but its still doing it, if i start the car it runs propper lumpy and sort of idles lumpy at 900rpm when cold, and ive noticed if i pull off the 2 middle leads attatched to the coil pack thingy (obd1 93 kreg) on the side of the engine its exactly the same still lumpy cold idle at 900rpm, is it the coil pack? if so is there anyone in or near croydon that has one plus poss plugs n leads to be safe pls pls get in touch, i got cash waiting and desperate coz i need the car for the weekend, contact details are in my profile
VR6Pete 1,455
There's your problem.could be coil pack, leads or plugs, only way to confirm that is the swap the plugs around or check to see if they spark first of all, swap leads also see if you get spark or not on the middle 2, if not, new coil pack im afraid.you can one from GSF, not cheap though, DIY job to fit or someone might have a 2nd hand one. gavinvr6 0
was hoping someone near to croydon (anyone?) would be kind enough to donate the one they have sitting in the garage for an emergency to me for a sensible price both ways lol. either that or i'll go german and swedish tomorro and get the whole lot just to play it safe, ive done nearly 200 on a new cat and new lamba so another few quid wont hurt (he says with a tear rolling down his cheek), just checked the gsf catalogue and looks like i'll be looking at about 180 if they get all the parts in stock :-(
