Guest top dollar
hello everyone just bourght a 93 5dr mk3 vr6 on thursday i thought i was on the road to vr heaven but it seems im on the road to vr hell (6) on sund ay noticed loads of blue/grey smoke coming from exhaust.when i checked car over when purchasing everything looked fine no smoke.i had a 50mile mile motorway journey to get her home but didnt really give her that much welly.the seller said he recentley changed the oil but i noticed the oil level is at the top of the highest ridge on the dipstick is this too much? does it have to be at the top of the criss cross square in the centre of the two ridges on the dipstick please help as there is no min max letters on it.if too much oil might explain smoke and have to drain some out i.all comments greatly appreciated
adam_christie 0
If it's at the top of the criss/cross area then it's full. If it's any higher then it's over-full and this might explain the smoke, but if it's any fuller you'll risk damaging your cat. Just run the car for a while. VR's use oil so it'll go down over time. Just try not to thrash it too much!
dwa1974 0
grey smoke is usually petrol, blue is oil. I don't know what blue grey means!
