binliner 0
Has anyone got one of hese in their golf? I've just bought one to house my sub and have got 2 wee problems...1. It ain't exactly 'stealthy' it sticks about 10cm out into the boot &| 2. It doesnt stay in place! ~Ok problem one I can live with.In the literature that came with it, it says 'it grips the boot like a limpet... it'll only move when you want it to' mine seems to be missing this limpet like nature and just moves when it likes!just wondered if anyone else has had the same problem if so any solution? six appeal 53
Sorry can't answer your questions Justin, but was wondering how much you payed for it? Does it sound any good and what size/type of Sub your using in it? Ported or sealed box?Been toying with getting one for a while now to reclaim my boot!Have you tried some of that industrial Velcro tape from Halfords? Have used that on a few sub boxes and it really does grip well.Simon.
binliner 0
They cost £149Dont know about the sound as I didnt want to screw the sub in until I've spoken to auto acoustics10" vibe is going in itThey do 2 sizes (volume) but they only do sealed.I think it's because I got the bigger size it sticks out that bit further making it a bit front heavy so it tilts forward. The smaller size probably wouldnt do it but at 0.65cl I thought it was a bit too small. There's velcro on the box but its badly positioned so doesnt do a lot! I'm going to call auto acoustics later and see what they suggest.ps www.autoacoustics.com if you're interested mate (I ordered mine through Halfords)
six appeal 53
Cheers Justin, was hoping to mount a 12" in it as have a pair of Rockford 12's here already, so wanted to make use of one of them. Will check out the link.
binliner 0
Ive just put a load more velcro on it and also tightened the nut that holds the parcel shelf bracket in place and it stays in place a lot better nowSounds excellent... having the sub has improved the whole sound no end
dubloke 4
i have bought one of these, got the smaller version of it myself, fits as snug as a bug in a rug with no sloppy play. got mine off auto accoustics website as ex demo for £99 but when ordered it they realised they'd sold the ex demo and not deleted it from the site, so had to make me a brand new one for the same money! bonus!! cant say how it sounds as i'm still waiting for one of the brand new rf subs, has been over 5 weeks waiting now and getting miffed to say the least! to get the right sound you need to matching sub to enclosure volume! binliner 0
I returned mine and have now ordered the smaller one!
madmonkee 0
do u find by having wacking great subs in the boot, fucks up the handling of the car?? mines never been right after my install.
dubloke 4
i have also made a false floor and side panel under the offside shelf support for the cd changer and power cap etc so it holds it in nicely anyway. still got space for some shopping too. lol!
binliner 0
I've done the same... made a side panel to hide the amp!
six appeal 53
Whats the difference between the large and small box Justin, apart from the obviously larger volume? Are most of the 10" Subs better suited to the large or the small one?
binliner 0
the only difference is the larger volume but that larger volume means the box sticks out 5cm further! I'm not really much of an expert on subs and box volume so I'll pass on that question

dubloke 4
i'll try to get some pics of mine up for you guys(minus the sub of course, grrrrr). on the box side of things, justin is right about the volume and protrusion thang, but the reason for the extra volume is depth of sub bass required! a smaller sealed box will produce tight punchy bass, and tens are reknowned for being the best at this, the bigger box is for those that like a bit more low thump than punch, and is also dependant on the type of music you listen to i guess! i need a bit more room in my boot currently, so will be giving this box a good workover soon, although after two kenwood tornado tens(excelent subs imo) it might sound a little quiet out back![ Edited Thu Aug 05 2004, 11:48PM ]
dubloke 4
i have also been lead to believe that the usa made subs are particularly efficient in these smaller style boxes! rockford fosgate and jl are supposed to be the top two performers in aa enclosures!
rwilkinson 0
i was thinking about trying to make one of these myself with fibreglass or somethin. I've never done it before though. £150 is a lot for a box. What do you reckon my chances are guys.
binliner 0
It wouldnt be impossible... mine is fibreglass with an mdf face.
