Guest Ricky
Hi there, new to the forum and this is my first post. ;-)Just got a 97-R 3DR VR6 in met. black with BBS alloys and lovin' it but there are a few little jobs I need to do.The rear spoiler is faded. Can you still get replacement parts from VW or is there anywhere else I could get one? Is it easy to replace?I need replacement heater vents as well as two of them seem to be broken and don't turn. It looks the plastic rods inside the vents have snapped at the bases. Don't fancy fitting chrome replacements.Oh, and a replacement ciggie lighter as well but I'm checking eBay for this.Anyone got VW rubber floor mats for a MK3? Where can I get some? I don't want the fabric or metal ones. And one final thing....just the standard twin exhaust is fitted. Anyone have any sugesstions on how I can get a specialist to fit a twin chrome exhaust - just standard size?I'll post some photos of her when I get a chance.Cheers,Ricky

nivag27 5
You can buy the same sort of stuff for £5.99,from most car shops, cant think of the name (I will get back to you on that one) Its in a Green bottle and it lasts for ever and works great. Its for all black trim tyres.
nivag27 5
Turtlewax Extreme Tyre Gel 500mlWorks for me.

matth76 1
Turtlewax Extreme Tyre Gel 500mlWorks for me.It says it is for tyres. Can you use this on plastic trim too? My rear spoiler is faded too. How do you apply it as if it's a spray I'll have to mask up a lot of the paint work to prevent it getting on the rest of the bodywork. Or can you apply it with a brush or similar? That first link looks good stuff but it's pretty expensive and also a spray, looks good though. I've tried lots of "bumper black" products and they've all been useless.
nivag27 5
It is a white liquid, I use it on all my black trim.I dab it on to a small sponge and wipe on.
SiGainey 1
I've tried all the pro-valeting dyes on this but they never last more than a few months. Painting it is the only way I'm afraid...
VeeR6 0
I had the same thing on mine but it also extended to the bumpers - they were light grey instead of black. Don't laugh but i used 1200g wet and dry paper and a bucket of water. Grey went, left no scratches and then used a bumper shine product from halfrauds. Looks like new
funkinmental 0
surely if it lasts a few months it would make sense to make it part of your regular maintenance / polshing routin as opposed to painting?thats what I do so whenever i polish the car i take an extra minute to treat the rear spolier too. Matt W 4
I use the Megs Gold Class Trim Detailer stuff here you can see the differenceBut in the end just painted it as the stuff never lasts!
xyber 1
I ended up spraying mine in the end, needed top stopping though as there seemed to be a never ending supply of silicone creeping out of it and ruining the paint
vr6madmike 0
Iv got forever black dye on mine a year and still going strong!
hopefulVR6owner 0
just sprayed mine took 10 mins but be careful to silicone it back on the face fit side cos i didnt to start with and water came in through the bolt holes.you cant compare a permanent fix of spray for £3.50 to a constant top up of bumper gel at £5 a bottle
philbatesvr6 0
i took mine off lolmakes the rear smoother imo
