VR6 DUBBER 0
Hi all anyone know why VW chnaged the VR6 top chain back to a single in the later spec engines and made the tesioner a plastic one as opposed to a metal one..I would have thought the double chain and metal tesnsioner would be the best. 6potmkII 0
i think the double chains caused excesive wear to the guides and didnt last as long as vw intended to and this caused early rattles etc

FishWick 21
The later stuff is better for wear.I think VW over estimated the force required to turn the cams on the original engines and when a diesel version was definitely canned, they dropped it down to a simplex chain.
