ECU reset and remap

I know I have already posted with questions about my re mapped ecu and disconnecting the battery. I have also read some of the posts about re setting the euc but just want to check a couple of thigs before I try something.

My golf is obd1, although it does have a coil pack: How exactly do I reset the ecu? Is it disconnect the battery and then turn the ignition on before re connecting?

I know the re map is not effected by disconnection of the battery, but not sure if it is effected by an ecu reset?

The battery has been off a couple of times, and also a new one was put on as well. Been a little lumpy and seems a little hesitant since I think. I wanted to try re setting the ecu (as long it doesn't effect the re map) before investigation further. Each time I have disconnected, it has been just for a few minutes and then re connected with the keys out and ignition off.

A remap shouldn't be affected by the battery being disconnected or the ecu being reset. As far as I know the remap involved a chip being being soldered onto the current chip (re-chip process) at least thats what Stealth said they do, so resetting the ecu shouldn't affect anything at all as the ecu will relearn everything again once it's operational. The settings are all in the re-chip. I may be wrong though! best to ring Vince at Stealth. let us know the answer mate

I think I will ring AMD, who did the map. Not sure if it was a new chip or the standard one flashed. Just not sure how to reset the ecu properly. Will let you know what I find out.
