andy 0
hi, its worth having the problem properly diagnosed before you start ripping it apart, there are several things that would cause oil to burn. How long has the existing oil been in there? You dont need a cam tool to lock the cams, I did mine without it, but you do need to be careful and double check everything. Turn the engine over by hand to check nothing's going to touch anything etc. German Swedish and French sell a lot of parts for vws at lower prices, most of their stuff is original equipment quality. If you got the Bentley manual from the US then you should be ok, it has 90% of the info needed in my opininion, anything it doesn't cover, just ask on here...
chufferman 0
when i bought the car i then took it to my mate who fixes all my cars and he serviced it for me. also when the engine is warm and you lift off the throttle you then start to get a strange smell inside which smells like burnt oil????? &| &| :@ ?! .the book which i got is a bently book?!! Guest Olly_K
if it needs it, get an over bore to 3.1 !
Geastb 0
How much to get an overbore? Mine is burning oil like mad! Was going to get another engine but might just keep mine and get it re-built - dependant on cost!
rikkirw 0
How many miles has yer car done mate?Just had the motor out of mine, which was smoking a bit, new valve stem seals saw to that ?! VR6Steve 0
My guess would be a head rebuild too.
Geastb 0
Mines done 147k so i don't think just a head rebuild will sort mine lol! It doesn't smoke at every junction only sometimes! Think i'll take a look at the plugs and see if that can tell me anything...then its compression test time!Might look into it tho
