matth76 1
Not good at all. Total knee jerk reaction, instead of finding out the root of the problem. In my opinion it is primarily lack of money from the government, but also the way government decide huge pay rises for the top managers and GP's etc. I couldn't believe it when I heard that most GP's earn at the very LEAST 104k a year (quoted from recent documentary). Only 10yrs ago they were on 30-40k a year. Huge price hike, and they have actually reduced all their hours, which I think is a good thing - but not to raise their pay at same time.. I could go and ask my boss to work less hours but ask for double what I'm getting - doesn't quite make sense. And the top managers in the trusts are on more than double this. Problem is it's totally disorganised and badly run but yet they get paid huge amounts of money. Feel sorry for the proper workers who work so many hours and now have to face news like this - this kind of thing should only happen when faced with less demand for treatment - the number of patients is always increase each year, and yet they close casualties and do this kind of action. It's not "debt" that the hospitals or trusts face - it's the lack of funding from the government to meet the ever increasing demand in treatment....rant over!
Extremecheese 0
For me, what gets me angry when something like this happens is the fact that the people who do the decision making of 'who should be laid off' are generally the people who be laid off themselfs. So we are told that 600 jobs will be cut - I can almost guarantee that those jobs will consist of 600 of the lowest paid people working for the NHS, leaving the overpaid bloated waste of space arses who flounder around getting piss-all done whilst creating emails to substantiate their professional existance still in employment. I think it's an abomination that a service such as the NHS should be measured by job numbers and not pounds, - if it were then at least the right people would be getting the bullet./rant over too (sorry I'm a bit of a lefty!)
