l1_lbk 0
What would be the oil for VR please?
fitz-vr6 0
i use castrol magnatec 10w 40 for high mileage engines. find it works really well
hvr6 88
Go for Quantum Synta Silver 10w40 (semi synthetic) - from GSF or VW - much better. Avoid fully synthetic as its too thin.
xyber 1
fuchs xtr 10-40 is the same as synta silver, which is what alot of gsf store stock now instead of synta
philbatesvr6 0
iv got a semi 10w40 diesel oil in mine at the min ill run it for 3k with this in then go back to normal fuchs 10w40i do this because the diesel oil has detergents in it and with it been over 100k i thought it might do it some good ? james4287 1
i understood it as the detergants only react with diesel in the oil from the engine? so running diesel oil in a petrol won't have any effect.could be wrong though!
Phat VR6 3
I wouldn't risk diesel oil in a petrol car, because it says the oil for a diesel not a petrol engine!!!??? haven't changed my oil yet but im going to put in what VW put in it. Seems to make sence to me.
l1_lbk 0
cheers wil get some tomorrow, might give the girl a service. Is it a hard thing to do? i have got mate who knows all on golfs mk1 and sed he'll help out
xyber 1
The detergents in oil, like fully syth, can actually clean away gunk that is sealing leaks on higher milage engines, causing it to leak like a sieve, Id stick to what VW spec, synta ot the equivilant like fuchs
4mobora 0
just bought 6 liters of quantum synta silver 1 5L an 1 1L all for 24.46 inc vat at my local dealer it says it is also for turbo diesel engines
