SAL 0
Hi all , just wondering if anyone knows the legalities surrounding speedos. as some of you may know i use a Pajero for my work car, now since owning it the speedo never worked correctly so now the mechanic i bought it off has finally FIXED IT by replaceing it with one that only reads KM/H, So i still dont know what speed im actually doing, now is this clock legal. Its going back anyway but i just want the correct ammo when i blast him , any advise guys????
blackmagicvr 7
i think it is legal, you just have to be carefull of the speed, just convert it by looking at a mph speedo,if you buy an import which my mate did when they come into the country they have the speedo changed as a matter of coarse, for ease in this country. matth76 1
Not legal mate. You need a MPH speedo in order to pass an MOT. Doesn't it read MPH in the inner part of the speedo in smaller writing? (just like our MPH speedos have KPH readings in small writing)
Ickyketseddie 89
Thats wierd because i'm pretty sure theres no legalities as to how accurate they have to be. Wasnt there something that happened a while ago with a load of audis that read as going alot slower than they actually were, causing loads of people to get done speeding? petervr6 0
lol just asked my mate who is a tester and it aint got nothing to do with the mot at all there for its legal.
Mr_GTI 0
as above the only thing you need to prove is milege not speed, speed is the drivers duty of care, you only need a speedo to read in MPH when doing an SVA test NOT an MOT
Earwig 89
There is nothing Illegal about it, but I am sure you would be well within your rights to demand a MPH eversion sice that is what came out of the vehicle and so should be replaced, like for like.Mark.
