SHAQS77 0
I am calling to all members here, please can someone help me. i 'owned' and p plate 3dr black vr6 highline with 74k on the clock, full VWSH, mint condition, absolutely standard. i had an accident yesterday evening when some cu=t cut me up on a flyover trying to overtake me by going on the wrong side of the road. i had my 13month old son in the car at the time. the car spun hit the barriers and went over a kerb hitting a bollard. damage wise, bonnet, the front, all the way down the passenger side and the front two drive shafts. basically the car is fuck£d. probably a write off. luckily me and my son are alright, not a scratch.this is where i need your help. i have fully comp insurance with my no claims protected. whats the best way to get top doller for my ride? the car was a minter so how can i word it and what tactics can i use to get top price? the money i get I WILL be buying another highline (if any one has got a good one for sale pm me!!!) as i only had this one for just over a month. hellsVR6 0
Well firstly, glad you and your son are ok! Gutted for you about your car as you've only had it a short while.Thing is, if you told the 100% truth to the insurance co when you insured it, i.e. that you really don't have any modifications and all that malarkey, then surely they should pay out alright? jaysVR6 2
Gutted for you mate. The only way for you to get top money for the VR is to one, of had the car valued when you took out the policy. Or two, when you have the damage assessed, make sure you are present and chat to the assessor. They may give you top book for the car, but I highly doubt it.I believe Glasses guide no longer lists the VR6 (haven't got one to hand) but top dollar retail is around the £4k mark and Private Good I reckon around the £3-k and under. The assessor will try and rape you if you don't stand your ground, reject the first offer if you have no choice, they may just surprise you. Best of luck.

xyber 1
Push for the highest price you can, then what I did in the past was bought the car back for pennies as salvage and fixed it with the insurance payout, all depends on the amount of damage though but worth thinking aboutsearch for similar cars that are for sale at the price you want from the claim, print/ cut them out and keep them as proof they can fetch that much and remember they will not want to give you top money for it, so you'll have to stick to your guns! also it sounds stupid but fully clean and polish the car inside and out along with anything else thatll push the price up, before the inspector bloke comes for a lookInsurance companies are all robbing bastards! hahaha
SHAQS77 0
thanks for the tip xyber. well i cant clean it now. whats happened so far is the the recovery company had it taken to their secure lock up last night and about 1500ish they delivered it to approved repair center. 'Drive VAUXHALL' yep you read right flippin vauxhall. it would probably be inspected by 2moro afternoon and i will know whether it is repairable or a right off. i can take it to another repair center ie a specialist vw one but my insurance company (Bell direct) said then i wont be entitled to a hire car.i'll post some more 2moro to let you know whats happening (if anyone is interested) and i'll and get some pics up aswell. craggsy 91
Drive are shit....they sprayed my Toledo the wrong colour red, they used one of there reds from there piles of shit instead of walking down the road to SEAT and getting the right one
goonersteve 0
Firstly, main thing is you and your son were not hurt In terms of the insurance side, most of the issues have been covered by the previous comments. As said before, get plenty of evidence of top VR's in mint condition from Autotrader etc and especially one's from dealers as they will be higher priced remember ALWAYS reject the insurance companies first few offers. They will go higher, even if it's not alot, they will increase their offer. Remember, they've got other cases to deal with and will want to get it all sorted asap. Make sure they know you aint gonna be f*cked around (in the nicest possible way of course!). If you are willing to stick to your guns and wait a while, you'll be far better off, believe me. All depends how patient you are!If you want any further advice, feel free to PM me mate. I work in insurance, so if i can help you at all i'll be more than happy to.
SHAQS77 0
spoke to the repairers, the car is a right off. spoke to the insurance company and they said that they would only pay for what i paid for it. a bit fuck£d off at that. tried to explain i got the car cheap as the seller was desperate to sell but it is worth alot more. a quick question, what is it worth?? it wasa black 3dr p plate highline, 74k, full vwsh and was mint. what price should i be asking for??? SHAQS77 0
apart from the autotrader where else can i get prices to show my insurance company

SHAQS77 0
they give REALLY low prices. i've not seen any highlines in the autotrader at the prices they say!!!!
xyber 1
apart from the autotrader where else can i get prices to show my insurance companyPerformace vw magasine etc, free ads, auto mart, fish4They cant pay out what you paid for the car, they have to pay out enough to get a car of similar age, condition, spec etc but OE spec only, unless extra mods insured specifically, most policies hide this in the small print, you declare thousands of quids worth of mods, they add to the cost of your insurance but arent even covered! so if for example you have a p plate vr highline worth in as new condition that would be worth say £4500, but with £10000 of extras, you only get what the car is worth and they do use parkers guide to judge it, so youd get what the parkers guide says :@
hvr6 88
thanks for the tip xyber. well i cant clean it now. whats happened so far is the the recovery company had it taken to their secure lock up last night and about 1500ish they delivered it to approved repair center. It's worth it doing without the hire car if you can! I had a bumper scrape from a guy in a Vauxhall and my insurance wanted to send it to an 'approved' repairers that was a Citroen specialist!?! I refused and had it send to my local VW independant bodyshop and the result was spot on even got some Mk4 headlights chucked in as the guy was sound. Wouldn't trust a non VW specialist with my highline and don't think you should if you can avoid it.
SHAQS77 0
the car has been written off! piss£d off. i'm going to the repair center on saturday morning to get my tax disc, the highline gearknob and gaitor and the sunroof switches for my dad. does anyone want anything else?? it has to be small though!!! i'll take some pics and post them via a premium member. been on the the look out for another highline, havn't seen one on the trader yet that takes my fancy. ideally i want a P or R plate with low milage and full vwsh. anyone see one let me know. i dont mind travelling!!!! xyber 1
Have a look for fully loaded VR's, higher spec than a highline

SHAQS77 0
got an offer from them today. £2500!!!! i laughed (inside) and told them it wasn't enough as i want to buy another one and to buy what i had similar to that is going to cost me atleast £4000. is that reasonable?? how much should i be going for?? what else can i say to bump up there offer?
goonersteve 0
Yes that is reasonable, because it's like negotiating the purchase / sale of a car, or anything else for that matter. The buyer always offers lower than what they would really be willing to spend and the seller always asks for more than what they would really accept. Therefore if wanna get £3k+ then you should be asking for £4k. Have you told them or was it on your details with them that you are a member of this owners club? That should provide evidence that you had a genuine example of a well looked after VR and possibly help your cause. Have you provided them with examples of other VR's on the market at a similar standard as yours? As said before, the longer you hold out, the more likely you are to get what you want, because they won't want it dragging on. Plus there is the factor of them providing you with a service which you will be happy with and then pass on to other potential customers through word of mouth. Or if they p*ss you about, then it'll be the opposite! Stick to ya guns matey and stay confident. You'll get there in the end
SHAQS77 0
need your help mates. the insurance got back to me today, they offered me £2750. they supplied 3 adverts from he trader, 2 of which were normal vr's and not highline and the third (which is already sold!) is a black 97 with full vwsh with 107k on the clock going for £2550. mine was on a p plate with 77k on the clock with full vwsh. how can i word it with the insurance company to up the offer. another question was that on my policy i have got 21 day hire car cover. the 21 day is up tomorrow. the hire car company want the car back. i cant be without a vehicle as i travel 40min each way to work. i dont know what to do. please help.
