You need laser timing equipment to be 100% accurate.I calculated it using Quaife's gearcalc program and was based on the 02A box common to Golf and Corrado VR6s, and according to that, the gearing physically won't allow any more than 99mph in 3rd @7000. If there's a deviation from that, you may have a different gearbox, innaccurate speedo (90% probable as VW speedos are crap) or a higher rev limit..... but with a tailing wind and a hill.....stranger things have happened!
