Hiya everyone;

Just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction here. I was in the middle of removing my carbon cannister (now done, breathe easy my BMC CDA friend!) and noticed a rather large pipe coming off the top left hand corner of the rocker cover. It's a the top left of the engine as you look down at it standing in front of the car. The pipe that comes off mine is just a big old pipe (what looks to be like a garden hose pipe!) that vents to the air. I can tell it's not factory as a) it's clear (stained with oil but still semi-transparent) and B) it's held in position with cable ties. I think it's supposed to be an "S" shaped pipe that re-connects back to the inlet pipe is it not? You can see in this photo that there's NO big metre long pipe coming off the rocker cover. It goes back into the inlet pipe!

Basically I think someone who owned the car before me has been messing about and potentially messed things up a bit. May explain why my car's running a little crappy. If anyone has a detailed photo of where the pipe is supposed to go that'd be magic. Also the pipe that goes from the carbon cannister to the inlet manifold has anther pipe coming from it. Mine's been blocked off with a little bolt. Any ideas where that's supposed to connect to?

Cheers!

the pipe from the rocker fits to the standard intake pipe and normally has a valve on it that is connected to the other little tube with the bolt in it. Its basically an engine breather that puffs gases back into the inlet. If you want a new pipe with the valve and that get it from Ford as its about £25, but from VW they want £90!

Aha, I've just seen the post a bit further down the page titled "Whats this?" and think I've found my answer, So I don't need to worry about the pipe not running back into the TB then? The other end has been blocked off as suggested. Would I need to keep an eye on it though? I was under the impression that the oil vapours might help lubricate the TB and prevent "throttle stuck open" scenarios.......

Yeah just read about this on the other thread. Shockin'! I'll just live with it for now. It's just that the pipe that's there looks like a proper botch job! I'll take some photos in a bit just to show you how naff it looks!
