xyber 1
Started looking into my options, so far my favs are the Z-engineering kit but that is massivly expensive (£1200) as it incorporates an inlet mani, looks the nuts, but, the chargecooler is right above the exhaust mani? bit silly.... The other is http://www.advancedvehicletuning.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=21&osCsid=188f78636baa753f0aa441fc9193b834looks decent and not a bad price and looks likek it replaces the induction pipe between the charger and TBIf anyone has any other ideas/suggetions let me know, it would be appreciated as there doesnt seem to be that many set ups around, Ive only got a stage 1 charger at the moment, but am planning on upgrading in the future, so rather buying aquamist or something thought I might aswell pay a little more and go the CC route cheers
Radostormvr6 2
Im running a Schimmel chargecooler which is a very good set up, but you need the short runner too.Its not cheap but worth it Check out there site www.spturbo.com Depends what power your going to,8-10psi you be fine with aquamist.Theres a guy on corrado forum using that cc system called crazydave, he will tell you more about it. FishWick 21
Same as him /\, I'm using the Schimmel chargecooler, which is rated for up to 700whp.A bit overkill for a low boost supercharger tbh, but intakes are never any more than 10 deg above ambient all year round. xyber 1
I looked at the schimmel stuff, looks real good for turbos, but seemed abit awkward for a charger as you'd have to do a whole lap of the engine with induction tubes and the price was very high considering I wont be going much more that 8-10psi I could get away with less
kadvr6 0
if you are only going 8-10psi you will be fine with just the aquamist for cooling and anti detonation. but really though, anything over the 10psi you would need to think about some form of chargcooler. kadvr6 0
saying that, next year i will be going for the max boost ican get from my v1, but i have been looking at the following chargecooler http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Water-to-Air-Turbo-Charge-Cooler-Intercooler_W0QQitemZ320147400165QQihZ011QQcategoryZ72205QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem with this pump, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Charge-cooler-pump-water-chargecooler-turbo-charger_W0QQitemZ270154165202QQihZ017QQcategoryZ72205QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem just gotta find a suitable rad for the install, and of course some pipe work. xyber 1
Looks well smart! How much work is it to relocate your battery to the boot?

xyber 1
That was the other setup I was interested in just coz it looks so good! Havnt got round to mailing them yet about a price for the cooler setup on its own
FishWick 21
with this pump' date=' http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Charge-cooler-pump-water-chargecooler-turbo-charger_W0QQitemZ270154165202QQihZ017QQcategoryZ72205QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem just gotta find a suitable rad for the install, and of course some pipe work.[/quote']Isn't that an R32 aux pump? Was thinking of using that to replace the troublesome 12V aux pump actually.A large Mocal oil cooler rad would work well as chargecooler prerad. Not sure about that chargecooler cadguy linked to. Looks absolutely stunning though, but personally I would not want the intercooler core sitting above the exhaust manifold.....would need some major nuclear reactor grade heat shielding going on down there! He's also using a short runner, so routing back to the stock intake would prove tricky. What I have seen is a chargecooler built into the stock intake manifold, which looked rather special. xyber 1
Thats the z-eng kit i was looking at, looks nice, add some more heat proofing to the underside and an insulating inlet gasket and that might sort me out. Its the same price roughly as a schrick mani [mod edit resize pic]Moderator edit by: cadguy
FishWick 21
Yeah that looks good. The one I saw was built into the middle section where "DOHC VR6" would normally be, so it's above the engine rather than the exhaust, which is a bit cooler. I think allard motorsport made it. xyber 1
I do like the once intergrated into the mani just as they are so neat and tidyWhat would be good was if you could find somewhere that could mod and inlet mani to have an integrated air-air cooler, so it would basically be similar to a top mount cooler like a scooby, then you would need a subtle(haha) scoop above it, then that would take up minimal room but then I suppose you would have more of a pressure drop :@
FishWick 21
Cadguy, cheers, that's the very manifold! Xyber, nice idea, but scoobies suffer big heatsoak in traffic with their IC right above the engine.
xyber 1
Ive had a few massivly complicated ideas! hahaha One involed using the aircon system to supercool the coolant in the chargecooler system, but any benifit would be eaten up by the aircon running, DAMN IT!!!
