when does the "chain" need doing ??

ive just got my self a vr6 . its on 102k and its got full history and stamped book . cant find anything about chain change etc ??

It doesn't need doing at all, but when they start to make a noise then get em done. But consensus is that at around 100k is a good time

Think the guides are more likely to wear out than the chain itself so people just have them done when it becomes noisey,

Mine has been slightly noisy since I bought it but it's a late ODBC2 with only 78k then and now 90k on the clock.

It turns out the top hydraulic tensioner bolt was faulty as I'd had the covers off and there was no wear or stretch. The top chain was probably slapping against the guide rail and making the noise.

£30 later and 5 minutes and it's now as quiet as a V6 mouse.

If your chains are noisy/rattling, try this first. If they're not, don't worry about them.
