Eat this 2
thats how its suposed to be a soft limiter comes in before the hard limit which means you just stop no juddering
motormadj 0
ah i see. cheers
jaysVR6 2
Why use it anyway?
Ben Seabrook 4
what is your vr like when it redlines??? Why would you want to redline it ?? personally it does not seem sensible to drive it on the redline
Steve @ 1
Why use it anyway?Yeah not used mine in two years of driving it. Engine doesn't make peak power there.
kalv 0
Only ever redlined it once at santa-pod when trying to get the best time.. like u said seemed smooth...
vr6newcomer 1
you dont drive it on the redline, but if youve got some jap rocket next to you then needs must! my cut out is soft also compared to most other stuff ive driven.
motormadj 0
yeah, i dont, only hit it twice.
motormadj 0
just wondered why it was like it... now i know.
Earwig 89
Never hit it yet and never plan to.Hitting the limiter slows you down. Good drivers change before :-)I also respect my car to much to treat it like that LoLMark.,
mike 6
i dont use mine either, didnt even know if i had one tbh lol
jaysVR6 2
My injectors max out at 5850 rpm and it starts to lean right out. Max power on an NA VR is much further down than the red line, unless you've got wild cams, head work and throttle bodies! lol
vr6newcomer 1
i thimk a lot of you kids are missing the point here, yes my engine has a stage 1 ported and polished head, flowed inlet, flowed throttle body, and i dont make a point of hitting the redline every time i jump in the car, but its fun to see what the car will do compared to my mates 16v mark 3. for example, as for abuse, if you look after your car and maintain it, it shouldnt make any difference, the cut-out is there to stop any serious damage. vr6newcomer 1
well, your entitled to your opinion mate, i like to enjoy my cars, they are there for driving hard, and i have had the pleasure of redlining many different varieties and combinations of engines and drivetrains, and in 14 years havent ever blown a car while driving. jaysVR6 2
No car I've ever seen on a dyno makes peak power on or near the limiter. As soon as it hits it, it tumbles like a brick. Funny how I don't see sports car drivers using their limiters on gear changes.Unnecessary abuse of an engine imo.
drue1 0
ive never hit the limiter in my vr yet cos ive not needed too.but my old mk2 uno turbo it was so quick i kept hitting the limiter in 1-2-3 gear
