andylaurence 0
iTrip is a device that you plug into your iPod and emits your iPod tunes at a certain frequency. You then tune your radio to the same frequency as that on the iTrip and bingo; iPod through your head unit!I will need to get an ipod before I bother with an itrip The point of the iTrip in this thread isn't so you can listen to your music, it's so we can hear when you're coming before you get to the corner we're taking photos at. When cars come past nose to tail you can often miss the people you're looking for. The other solution is to find out where we're stood and radio in with a PMR446 radio when you're close. Of course, you'll need to know the tarck to do that and you'll also need a PMR radio.Cheers,Andy
andylaurence 0
is why i got fexi tickets if its snowy then rebook at later dateI got flexi tickets too' date=' but I'll just go to the 'Ring or Leiden (near the 'Dam) if it snows. This year, I'm hoping to go to the 'Ring 3 times. Once at Easter to drive with you rowdy lot, once for the 24 Hour race you're all familiar with, and once for Rad am Ring in August. Anyone fancy a team in that? Turn up early for a few TF laps during the week, keep fit over the weekend and gyrating naked ladies in Adenau in the evenings. Perhaps not a cheap trip, eh?Cheers,Andy
Cowpatmatt 0
i am not to bothered about overheating my brakes, its not a race. so i doubt i would take it anywhere close to the limits, just looking forward to a good trip away with the least amount of propblems possible.Getting new clutch fitted this week too, bloody thing died on me. Cowpatmatt 0
I am not underestimating the ring. i know what it can do to the car. but my brakes wont be standard.braided hoses 6-line. red stuff ceramic. drilled discs front and rear. the pads have had great reviews from other clubs so i thought i would give them a bash. i was going to use omp racing pads because its what i know but would like to do a bit of testing with others. Prob take a spare set of pads with me if i dont get on with them.Got to be a fair bit better than my old 280mm warped discs with worse than standard pads.Cheers for the advice though. Paul was not happy with the "race" setup he'd bought and drove the rest of the lap like only a chauffeur could!Cheers,Andy

andylaurence 0
advise .... cg lock or harness with standard leater seats??? .....CG Lock every time. My M535i had full harnesses. Brilliant on the track as you're held in really well and the belts are really secure. The most safe solution without a doubt. However, it's a bitch for every passenger as they have to sit there adjusting the belts. Invariaby, they give up and just live with being uncomfortable. Then there's practicality. If you get in the car whilst chatting to someone and start to belt up, you'll be frustrated when they walk off and you have to get out of your harness to reach for the door. You'd be surprised how often this happens! Harnesses rule for on-track driving though.Cheers,Andy

Plus laps, of course. Considering most of the driving there and back is enthusiastic, I suspect you'll need a reasonable amount of fuel. We tend to stop just outside Boulougne and once again in Belgium. In fact, can I suggest we stop at L'Eclerc about 700 yards from the ferry point this year? It's much cheaper, and there's still room for everyone. Variety is the spice of life too :-p Once you're there, it depends on whether you're in the hotel (15 miles away) or camping (2 miles away), how many laps you do (13-14 miles) and how much you scoot around to watch from other places as to how much fuel you use. I used to get around 18mpg giving it beans in the M535i, so I suspect you get something similar in a VR6. Given the lap is almost 14 miles long, you'll be using about 3.5 litres of fuel per lap. Fuel is cheaper over there, so it's not £4 a lap in fuel! You'll probably do a tank pootling (?) around for the 3 or so days we're there (arrive about 16:30 Friday, leave about midday Monday), plus your laps.Cheers,Andy
jims13 6
if its any help , i changed up 330 quid into euros last year , and came back with a fence euros in chnage, it paid for all the fuel , camping and 12 laps of the ring... tony said he is taking 500 notes, thats in my opionon is more than enough and would see some change..i was camping btw, so didnt have the added cost of a hotel.
