SiGainey 1
Having to budget for this so do we need things like spare bulbs / first aid kits?
craggsy 91
I would......in Germany you dont have to carry a warning triangle BUT it is illegal to not have one if you do break down. Plus I beleive you have to have spare bulbs in most european countries
jims13 6
you must by law take a spare bulb kit (dont matter if it aint for your car) a warning triangle. licence , insurance docs, and mot... think thats about it.. a yellow flourescent vest probaly aint a abad idea , as people dont see people walking around on a hard shoulder when they are doing 80 +

hellsVR6 0
I'll be booking soon enough too, if not this week, next. Maybe we should have a big list for the ring noobs (i.e. me) what we need to take, what we need to do etc etc. Have never even driven abroad but well looking forward to probably going the wrong way round a roundabout! LOL

hellsVR6 0
Hmmm 50 odd pages from last year! Can we not simplify it for thickos, i.e. me?I'm wanting to know are things like:Do I need to do anything special to my car to help it get there and back in one piece? Remembering my car has had NO special work done to it, ever, so all this talk of remaps and adding bits and bobs is pretty alien to me, you all might as well speak in Vulcan, honest! Forgive me! Earwig 89
Nah. . .You don't need to do anything at all to your car. No need for mapping or adding anything. It's not needed.Look at the ring as nothing more than a long journey. Like any other you have done before ;-) Just make sure your car is roadworthy and you will be fine. I usually get mine checked over a few weeks before I go just to be safe. Make sure you have plenty of tread on your tires and take a spare if you think it's necassary (I didn't last year !)As for booking the tickets, I think I will take the chance also and book early. No point in waiting till the end of February for confirmation as it's just to close to departure time for my liking.Even if the weather is bad over there, or the ring is indeed closed to the public (Highly unlikely) then I am still more than happy to take me and whoever else wants to come on a little road trip accross Europe and just. . . .See where we end up :-)Mark. thegoth 5
Hmm ok have been reading up on this a bit. Most important things first. So Adenau is near Bitburg. So we know what we will all be drinking for the whole time! (Yay! Bitburger!)Bitburger and the 'Ring go together like cheese and onion' date=' although it's not recommended to actually mix them ;-)[lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1189583600_2196_FT191036_image_021.jpg'][/lightbox]Every bar or restaurant I can think of serves it :-D And at the local Lidl the deposit on the bottles costs more than the beer in the bottles! hellsVR6 0
Hmm yes I know half the fun of the drive will be taken away by not having to change gears!I was just thinking along the lines of perhaps getting my suspension enhanced, better brakes blah blah, I just want me and my car to survive the whole experience! Earwig 89
You don't need to do anything other than just take your car. . . Upgrade brakes to EBC drilled/grooved discs with either Green stuff/Red stuff pads.Change the brake fluid for better pedal response.Drop the car on uprated shocks or coilies.Get some new tyres with plenty of grip. Toyo/Yokohama/Goodyear F1.Fit PolyBush kit front/rear.AntiRoll bar kit ?Lots of things to do if you want :-)Mark/.
