acf8181 0
got my car back, paid a four figured fortune for it, and its still not right.feels really 'held back' when i boot it. but i haven't been in a vr6 for so long i've forgotten what it used to feel like, but i'm sure its really slow.i'm seriously considering selling it and going back to a vauxhall...had a few before and they never caused me anything like as much grief (or money). feel free to make me an offer. Guest Olly_K
yes mate, buy the highline. You'll know when your VR is holding back, and not being in it for a while should put a smile on your face when you finally get back in it

acf8181 0
timing chains.if i buy another vr6 it'll just be the same complex crap!i've actually just looked at autotrader and the pug 306 gti-6 has caught my eye. a '97 one with 54k for £3300! yes, it may break, but it'll be more fu in between...of all the cars i've ever driven it was the most fun by a fair way. 167bhp ain't too bad either. Pittuf 0
I considered a gti-6 before I got the RS and again before I got the vr, nice cars.In fact I may well have got one had it not been the car that wrote off the fezzy ~
madmonkee 0
no not the gti-6 get the rally if you can. Same engine as gti-6 but alot lighter

vdubgirl 3
All cars are money pits and they all go wrong no matter how old, new or what make or model if you hate driving a vr that much then go ahead and get another car but if you enjoy it as much as the rest of us go get yourself another one some cars are just jinxed ;-)
VR6Steve 0
Never a truer word spoken there Claire, some cars are just jinxed. :-(

VRmonster 1
well mines a shit tip, and im not putt off. i have the moans every few weeks but im dragging mine off the road and buying myself a mk1, he he. so i can repair the vr. ill probably end up like you after not driving the car for a while, get in it, and dislike it. mark@vagworx 0
Not having alot of luck then.Could it be that it's been timed up slighty wrong?!?
SankysVR6 1
can ask who did the work for you or did you do it yourself.hope you do get it sorted out. it will shame to lose some of you past experince
Coddy 0
I agree that all cars need money at some stage, it is just unlucky that some need more than others. The week after I bought my VR I spent £940 having the box rebuilt, which I was expecting. I am sure it will need more money chucking at it soon. It is just the nature of the game. A friend of mine once said to me 'Speed costs money, it just depends how fast you want to go'. How very very true.

acf8181 0
now this is confusing me...i was adament the timing was off yesterday, but when i drove away with it cold this morning it felt fine...then suddenly went bad again, kind of like it started misfiring. mark@vagworx 0
Don't reckon it's timed up right by the sounds of it.
acf8181 0
ok, i'm feeling a bit happier now.first off i went to get my camber done at feltham tyres (i highly recommend them by the way) and once on the motorway the car felt fine. it may be a few bhp down, but its good enough. only dodgy bit is around 2000rpm. anyway, the allignment was off the grid, so its feels superb now. i actually smiled when driving it. also, worked out that its a simple fix for the coolant leak.so all appears ok. mark@vagworx 0
Hopefully it'll stay that way for miles to come Glad you got it sorted.
