Damp carpet in the passenger footwell ?

I went out to do some work on my VR6 today after leaving it standing whilst i was at the reading festival, only to find a damp carpet in the passenger side footwell. After investigating i found a slight drip from under the passenger side dash. This had dripped onto the carpet and run down the inside of the footwell. Any ideas where the water could be coming from ?

i would guess at the heater matrix

I thought it might be. Is that an expensive job then, and is the heat matrix easy to get at or am i going to have to take the whole dash out !

The matrix itself will be about £25-£30 but yes the dash does have to come out :-(

Damn, ill buy a matrix seeing as there that cheap, looks like im going to have a days work ahead of me this weekend. Is there any threads here with help on removing the dash ?

i had something similar. with me, it turns out it was the drainage hose from the sunroof drains - basically instead of being one part taking the water out of the car, it fits into a connector which is just at the top of the passenger footwell by the bodywork. this connector can come loose from the hose, duh! had to take half the dash off to discover it. a bit of fiddling later and putting the hose back into the connector, and hey presto, problem fixed. i'd suggest you check that too. carpets are still drying out 3 months later, mind....

have you got aircon?

i have some big pipe under the dash on passenger side and noticed that dripping once, just seemed like condensation on the outside of pipe tho

so i assumed it was an aircon pipe?

Nah, it was my fault i left the passenger door slightly open when i pressure washed the car lol. Simple but least it wasnt expensive ! Havent had the "problem" since. lol.
