I took it out tonight and after about 30 mins of steady driving the oil light started flashing and sounding an alarm. Any ideas what the problem could be ?Im going to take it to VW tommorow to get it checked over, but if theres a simple cheap solution, all the better ! Thanks. Link to post Share on other sites

I was just driving up a slight hill towards my local petrol station keeping to the 40 limit. Then it just suprised me. Im not happy ! Link to post Share on other sites

Yer i have checked the oil, its slightly overfiled if anything. At one point, right after the light came on the car did stall ? Link to post Share on other sites
adamsimmons 0 Posted August 30, 2007 Report Share Posted August 30, 2007 It may be something else, but i think it sounds like low oil pressure as I can't think of any other reason why the oil light would come on. Damien. 0 Posted August 31, 2007 Author Report Share Posted August 31, 2007 Yer, what happened was: i was driving to the petrol station and the light came on along with the beeping. I stoped left then engine running and checked for oil leeks under the engine bay etc, then i turned the car off. I left it for a few seconds and turned it back on. It started but when the revs died down it stalled, so i left it for 5 mins. Then i started it no problems atall. So i drove it home, the beeping and light stoped sometimes on the way home but started again shortly after. Link to post Share on other sites

I started the car up and let it warm up ( The light never comes on when its standing still ) and then i opened up the oil filler cap to see if there was any oil being sloshed about. Damien. 0 Posted September 1, 2007 Author Report Share Posted September 1, 2007 Right, took it to a garage today. They said theres plenty of oil getting washed arround the engine. Also the 12 miles journey there was faultless, no light or buzzing atall. On the way back to, absolutley fine although it came on once or twice for a second or 2.
