adam_christie 0
Hiya everyone,Just a quickie really:Which way round are the grooves on grooved brake discs supposed to be orientated? Should the grooves be pointing towards the centre of the disc in the same direction that the wheels rotate? And should the rears be the same way round as the fronts? Many thanks!Ad
lee060 3
iirc grooves going with the direcion of the wheel , if that makes sense http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.nebbs.net/legacy/new_front.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.nebbs.net/legacy/brakes.htm&h=275&w=377&sz=40&hl=en&start=78&tbnid=o2FJLqaWaZgmQM:&tbnh=89&tbnw=122&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dgrooved%2Bdiscs%26start%3D60%26gbv%3D2%26ndsp%3D20%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26sa%3DN you can see the front bumper in some of the pics , that gives you an idea
adam_christie 0
OK That settles it. My rear discs have been put on the wrong way round. I'll be taking it back this weekend.I've had all the bearings changed too. There should be no noise now right? So why am I still hearing humming at about 40+ Mph? I think I've been had! lee060 3
front bearing going possibly?
adam_christie 0
Bearings all round were changed at the same time. Which is the reason I'm saying I may have been had. Bah humbug! Taking it back this saturday to get it sorted.
mannie 0
You can check your bearings by jacking the car up and rock the wheel at the 6 o'clock position and see if you have any movement /play .
adam_christie 0
I will. There might not be play, they might have tightened them up too tight. We'll see! I'll check them tomorrow evening.
