Alrite people, me and my mate at work are wondering who would win in a race.

rite here it is, his car:

1996 Toyota GlanzaV 1.3 Turbo.

induction kit, and decat exhaust

estimated power : 150ishBHP - torque unknown

My car

1994 MK3 VR6 2.8 V6

Decat Exhaust

Forced air induction kit (Ramair)

Estimated power : 190ish BHP - 180ftlb of torque??

Who do you think would win in a quarter mile race??

I think the Glanza might just win due to power to weight advantage also they run at low 14s in the 1/4 mile .they are quick little cars .

Had a bit of a blat with one of these recently and was surprised how well he kept up - until we hit the motorway

So I would say in a 1/4 mile race you would have the edge.

ive raced one of these from a standing start upto about 120'ish, (the kid said it had decat and ind'kit) and he was sat at the side of me upto around 100mph and then i started pulling away. must admit they are very quick for what they are.

you would need a really good start eg. little wheel spin. an you might just beat the little jap. might also need some go faster stripes to give you the extra 20hp that would come in use...lol

he would have you till around 80-100 then the tourqe from the v6 would kick in and leave the rice rocket for dead lol

i would have said teh glanza as 2 pints says tehy weight next to nothing...shocking a 1.3 being able to keep up with a a 2.8 tho!!!!

Be a close call, but sadly i think it could be the Glanza, obviously it depends on the driver etc too..

if the glanza runs low 14s average 1/4 hel kill you mate youl be looking at very low 15s very high 14s with them mods the best i ever got n/a was 14.6 with cams exhaust ind kit and remap making about 220 bhp

I raced one a wile back from a standstill upto around 90mph and left it for dust, the guy was gob smacked, so we went for it again and i did the same thing again, I see them around all the time. I run a MK2 VR6 about 215bhp

people who have never had or dont like vw`s always challenge Volkswgens on the road as despite what they might think or say still they see them as the "benchmark" for a decent hot hatch, sure there not the fastest cars in the world but they all do what they are supposed too, i find i flattering when some chopper gives it large in a modern "fast" car only for his ego to become as small as his tackle when he gets blown away by a 10+ year old Dub, they usually convince themselves " it must be modded" but mine aint not engine wise anyway
