Blue smoke

Right VR6 owners i got a problem and im wondering if any of you can help me.

My cars failed 3 MOT's not on emisions, Ive had a diagnostic done by VW and it came back with 1 fault, lamba sensor. had that done but the emisions are still stupidly high....

The CO2 level should be no more than 0.03 and my VR6 is running at 4.90.

Today whilst going to get the cat replaced thinking that was the problem it started to chuck a fair old amount of blue smoke out of the exhaust everytime i changed gear hard...

Anyone got any idears to whats up with it?

Anyone help me!!!!

Hello Mark,

Funny you should say that as when i got the car i had a full service done and within a month the spark plugs needed changing again as one had cooked itself.........

So what would you suggest i do?

Also to adam,

There's only a clinking noise when i start her, i thought it was the timing chain coming slightly loose but now you've said that i dont know.....

To you both,

The car is driving fine apart from a slight lose in power and obviously the smoke, the car has done a whopping 170,000 miles and this is the first magor problem she's had, i will say thou she has had a hard life, it's gone throu 3 people since new and there all my mates but i know they drove it hard.

What do both of you suggest i do from here?

your looking at a engine rebuild matey.but what sort of price i dont know some times its cheaper to get a second hand lump and stick it in.and if you go that route get the clutch replaced and timing chain as well then it saves you money in the long run

I would guess your valve seals /valve guides are shot' date='and oil are suck through the guides .are your plugs wet ,you using the right plugs ?

[/quote']

I would have said valve seals and guides but you'll only get smoke when you decelerate and then accelerate straight afterwards. Oil will only get sucked through the guides / seals when there's substantial negative pressure in the inlet manifold, I.E. when coming off throttle with the clutch still engaged - Engine wants air, TB's cut it off, engine sucks it through other openings like gaps in worn guides etc etc etc etc!
