vag com problem

right, ive had a cable for ages and have used the software before on 2 laptops.

but ive now got my cable back , and it wont find the interface..it finds the port ok 'com 3'

but no interface, ignition is on as is light on the dongle.

so im thinking power supply to the cars rs232 port. is there a fuse for this???

help, as i want to put my abs light out.

From what I can see the OBD port is wired directly to the ECU.

The ignition maybe on but is the immobiliser off?

If there's a fault with the ABS the lamp will come straight back on!

I think you might have to turn the Baud rate down for the com port. I had this problem trying to scan a Mk4 Golf with the same laptop i use for mine. Turned it down to 9600 and it was fine.

I think the baud rate for the Mk3 was 32000, I'll need to confirm this when i get home form work.

i have tried all baud rate from 0 - 32000 , still no joy, i am thinking my lead is dead. im gonna try and see if you can clear the com port assignments and start over like that. although it does say port ok and interface not found..iv also tried taking the battery off and doing a reset like that, hoping it may bump the k line back into life.

Have you tried running the LED test with lead plugged into the car, you should be able to hear the opto's clicking.

Does sound like the lead''s faulty as its saying the interface is not found.

you can hear the opto clicking, so i think theres life the lead end.

its so annoying, im thinking of trying another lead just to make sure, but that means having to order one.
