amazak 3
Ok, I have been looking for a lowering kit for a while, finally won a set of coilovers of ebay, extremely happy, but the only issue is that the kit lowers between 55mm and 85mm......my concerns are that I have 17" Audi S3 alloys which I think are 7,5J, will the tyres scrub againt the arches as 55mm might a bit too low?? The reason I ask is becuase on standard suspension the rears touch if I got over a bump too fast or could that be because my shocks are worn out???Thanks
amazak 3
Btw the tyre size is 205/40/17.
Karr-Man 0
i have exactly the same concerns with 17" audi wheels, the back arches look ok but the front looks like its gonna rub in a major way
amazak 3
I think the fronts will be ok as the standard ride is really high, it is the rear's I am worried about.
mannie 0
You can adjust the ride high on coilovers .
amazak 3
But the ride height will be between 55mm and 85mm, will 55mm be ok?
Toby 0
I'm currently looking to buy suspension and i have a very similar wheel setup to you, I think 55mm might be a bit too low - I think I'm going to stick to around 40mm to be on the safe side - the last thing I need is wheels rubbing! ad24gti 0
70mm on 17's is fine
amazak 3
ad24gti,Is the car in your sig lowered 70mm? Also do you need the do any arch work?
Toby 0
is the ride not really harsh at 70mm though?
crish72 0
Mine's lowered about 50mm on 7.5x17 and the only rubbing is over big bumps or with weight in the back.Wheels are about ET35.But,....i'm about to put 8x17 on so i'm gonna need my arches rolling...
ad24gti 0
The ride is terrible but looks good Rear arches have been rolled but i have had 2 golfs and the one before this was about the same No arches rolled but best pic i have that was about 60- 70mm
cav 0
i am running 17x9 rears with 215x35's on and 60-70mm drop. all good for me. i have rolled and pulled the arch a tad though. Toby 0
maybe that's just me getting older then, I prefer a decent ride quality these days (although have done really low in the past on MK2's)!
amazak 3
Ride quality is important for those who have kids, don't want them bouncing up and down the rear seat as we go to school. :-d
Toby 0
well I don't have kids, but I still don't want my fillings falling out!
