Climbatize 0 Posted October 5, 2007 Report Share Posted October 5, 2007 I'm looking to replace the original head unit in my car but noticed the car is fixed with a small bolt at the back, ive no idea how to get the cage out as the bolt is screwed in from the other side, what do i need to do to get the cage free as i don't want to ruin it as i may keep the head unit or may sell it with the original booklet but i shall see but any advice on getting it out would be great Many Thanks Link to post Share on other sites

mannie 0 Posted October 6, 2007 Report Share Posted October 6, 2007 I think the bolt that you see at the back of the cage is only a locating bolt , what is holding the cage are the tabs at the front of the cage,lift thoes taps up (top,bottom,lift,right) and slide the cage out. Climbatize 0 Posted October 13, 2007 Author Report Share Posted October 13, 2007 No Tabs are holding the cage in, checked them when i had a look at removing the unit.All i need to is, is it worth keeping the unit and cage? its from an early vr6 and the unit number is CQ-D50FNV if its not worth keeping or selling then ill rip it out myself Cheers Link to post Share on other sites
amazak 3 Posted October 13, 2007 Report Share Posted October 13, 2007 Well imo, if you are keeping the car totally standard and are expecting to attend some shows with your motor then maybe it is worth keeping it. If not nobody has any use for them anymore, however a standard head unit does look good when selling as buyers sometimes prefer it. Link to post Share on other sites
