lewisvr6 0
hi guys, jus got my vr6 lowered on weitec hicon coilovers (very impressed btw, id recommend) but cos its gone so low the rear wheels rub on the strut (especially round corners) n the fronts rub on the arches when i turn the wheel.. i suppose maybe 5mm spacers would cure this?? only 100 quid with all bolts from H&R.The front has gotta come up neway cos atm its just waaay too low, its on standard wheels n the arches overhang them, ltierally inches off the ground. cant get over ne speed bumps n the sump catches the floor on my drive.. r the kits supposed to come with the C-spanners to adjust them? cos mine didnt.. is it possible to raise it without the tool??cheers..lewis
daleyboyVR6 6
just ordered a set of coilies for my Rado and scouring the rado forum they said that i would need 5mm spacers at the rear, sounds like you need your front arches rolled or just raise it up a bit, i would strongly recommend you get the right tool, really it should have come with a tool so if i were you approach your supplier and see what they say.........to do the job right get the right tool.............. :-p

Ciaran 4
im quite suprised it's rubbing as i have just fitted a set of coilovers and the rears are as low as they go and never scrubbed as yet even with people in the car. U had the geometry done since u had them fitted??
lewisvr6 0
ive got the weitec hicon kit which is coilies at front and adjustable shocks and springs on back. its not rubbing cos of the height its set at. its rubbin on the side of the tyre where the rear spring plate is, must be wider than a normal setup or somethin. got my spacers comin today so hopefully thatll fix it =)
lewisvr6 0
the garage that fitted it did the camber but it hasnt moved it out far enough.

manzi 0
my 9j wheels rub on the spring plate. its a right bugger. my mate thinks it rubbing on the arches instead. was gunna have a debate but just left it out.i receent checked to see if my 15" bbs fit to solve problem but its still quite close. its a pain the arse isn't it. i can only seat 1 meduim weight person in the back of my vento.these might help http://modifying.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.aspx?cls=ROAD&grp=RP036&pcode=S/FSF1315. lewisvr6 0
yea it is a pain. i got the spacers on the back now which has fixed it but i wana drop the back a bit more so prob gona start doin it agen. only need literally mm clearance cos mine ony used to rub when the wheels were under load goin round a corner
manzi 0
thats not too bad. it still happens to mine. everytime i put the foot down with rear passengers.i've hit bit of a dilema now. now that you have proven that those spring adjusters work, i dunno whether to buy these or spacers to fit my 15's on. without spacers my 15's look out of place as i have arch extensions. if i get the adjusters, its a good temp fix but winter is just round the corner. *-)
lewisvr6 0
is it definatly rubbin on the spring plate n not the arch?? bcos if its the spring plate it shudnt matter if you got weight in the car or not bcos its below the spring n doesnt move.
manzi 0
yeah i've been thinking about that. it must be the arch. i think there is about an inch or inch and half from contact, tires to plate.how much do you get with those spring adjusters? i know they come in pairs but little unsure how long each piece is. how many times did you manage to wrap that stuff around the coils?
