Very Sick 0
Hi GuysMy 98 make`s a ugly grr -grr noise on start upbut goes quite after 5 sec and the motor is getting louder every day. I took the oil filter off and saw small metal pieces. I took the car off the road. What do you guys suggest what must i do.Today i`m gone check the belt tensioner and if it not it i`m gone drain oil and drop the sump for further investigation. If the big-ends are gone can i just replace them????
adam_christie 0
How's it! Good to see some more south africans on here! (lived there for a year when I was 15 years old, loved it!) Sounds like you've got a serious problem there mate. Possibly not the big end bearings. There'd be knocking if they'd gone. Possibly your oil pump, however if I were you I'd look into a full bottom end re-build as if there's metal in the oil then there'll be metal in all of the joints/bearings which will end up dying in the not too distant future. Everything else will be at risk too, so a full engine rebuilt might be a good idea. Bit more expensive, but that way you know everything's all OK.

Very Sick 0
Hi GuysI dropped the sump and found that the big-ends was on there way out. The problem was that the previous owner knocked the sump and it blocked the oil-pump intake and damaged the pump. I`m gone fit knew big-ends and oil pump check how it`s going. adam_christie 0
Oh sh1t. Might have the same problem then. My sump's a bit battered too. How close to the bottom of the sump does the oil pump sit? Does it sit right on it or is there a gap? My car sounds a bit cack on start up when it's cold too...... :-(
