mombajomba 0 Posted October 19, 2007 Report Share Posted October 19, 2007 Hello again all,I've put the car back togther after having the spark plug holes re tapped (one was helicoiled) sadly it's failed it's MOT. I suspect the timing is off as it is a little lumpy. I lined the crank up and then positioned the cams but it must be off by a tooth. The car failed on emissions, and ABS. I have plugged in the ole VAG COM lappy and it's giving me the following:2 Faults Found:00537 - Lambda (Oxygen Sensor) Regulation 11-10 - Control Limit Not Reached - Intermittent00515 - Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40) 30-10 - Open or Short to B+ - IntermittentReadiness: N/AAnyone care to translate? The lambda sensor is reporting a problem when the engine is off too, is this normal? Is it possible or probable that the timing being out is causing this? Finger crossed nothing is damaged. I can't get the ABS error code at the moment, I'm hopeful that is a sensor too, but i don't know where to look.. there is a hole in the cat this could have baked the sensor behind the handbrake i suppose.. though again, i don't know where that is, I've only heard it is a common cause of ABS issues (my abs light is on full time)Any help woud be muchly useful guys..Simon Link to post Share on other sites

Is it possible this flagged up the errors and it now needs reseting? if so how to reset? will reseting all DTCs in VAG COM be enough or does the ECU need resetting?Mines an L reg Golf so i think it's ODB1, I've read that i just need to leave the battery unplugged for an huor and a half... adamsimmons 0 Posted October 20, 2007 Report Share Posted October 20, 2007 Hi Mombajomba,I had the same prob with mine not so long ago, with the lumpy idle and stalling after going for a drive. All I did was disconnect the battery and and touch the postive and negative together OFF THE BATTERY, and turn the key in the ignition to position 2, the one when all the lights come on. Just leave it for half and hour and then just reconnect the battery, turning the igntion off, and seems to be fine now. Misfire, fuel level, low fuel pressure or pump. Injectors. Evaporation cannister purge valve. MAF sensor filament burnoff faulty. Wiring or heated oxygen sensor00515 - Possible causes - Air gap, insecure sensor or rotor. Wring, poor connection. fuse. Dizzy/camshaft alignment. CKP sensor Link to post Share on other sites
mombajomba 0 Posted October 21, 2007 Author Report Share Posted October 21, 2007 Howdy all, cheers for the tips, I fixed it yesterday after I figured out these fault codes don't reset themselves. Reset the ECU, fault codes gone, took it for emissions test...all is well! I just need to find the ABS problem now and I'm back on the road. I'm half tempted to just take it to VW and see if they can figue it out.. annoying that I can't get any error codes from the ABS controller.. or communicate with it in any way Link to post Share on other sites
