Cowpatmatt 0
Hey,I have just ordered my sump gaurd and it should be here next week. I will right up a review with pics of this. I know alot of people are interested in them.Cost $398 including postage (better be good for this price!!)Heres a few pics of what it should look like.http://www.bptproducts.com/
manzi 0
looks pretty cool tbh. i thought about gettin one but most are from the usa. what does that work to in £?surely bumps are knocks will have the same effect on the sump right?
Cowpatmatt 0
£190 deliveredIt just protects the sump from damage from going off road and having a low car. Smack your sump on a raised man hole cover or a rock and speed bumps you will be in big trouble.Damage to engine, leak oil everywhere massive repair bill. i would rather spend the money now and not have to ever worry about repairs. Phat VR6 3
Couldn't you have just fabricated one your self out of some 3mm mild steel. Looks like its only one bend, no need for the holes and writing
Cowpatmatt 0
yes i have no problem to make one because i am a welder & fabricator. But i dont have the time to mess about getting mesurments and trail fitting and all that faffing about i cant be arsed with. But i have a plan to see what i can sort out wink wink.By the way 3mm mild steel would not be strong enough and it will be heavy look rubbish and rust. stainless maybe but again will be heavy and expensive. Also they utalise existing holes in the subrame for mounting and use special bolts. spanner junkie 0
Any ideas on how low the guard sits under the sump once installed?
6cylinder 0
I suppose it is worth the £190 if u are running ure car every day and it is low.Better than buying a new sump every month. 8o|
Cowpatmatt 0
Any ideas on how low the guard sits under the sump once installed? Not sure how much room there will be but it looks a snug fit. it looks the best fitting i have seen for the vr6. One company uses a box section frame and then a plate and i think it would hang way too low. soon find out though.

Phat VR6 3
Yer £190 seems alot of money for a 6mm aly plate. I wouldn't even think about buying it. I rather fuck about fabricating one but saying that if i could afford one with out thinking about the money then I would and save the effort
Cowpatmatt 0
its the postage that makes it that much.I am having a talk with them about distributing them in the uk so it could save us money. The cost of the ally is not alot it is the designing and machining that cost too. also they have made special bolts so it will fit without modification to our car i.e welding and cutting.Everything is machined to sit flush without bits poking out everywhere.I still have not got it yet but that is because i am trying to get a discount from them...lol

Phat VR6 3
I prefer that one. looks like it protects more of the engine. What have you got on your wishbones, Have you added that your self. Im thinking about making a compleat cover plate to stop all the crap getting in my smoothed engine bay. Like they have on the alfers

Cowpatmatt 0
sorry need to update pics of my car. they now do not have the wheel arch covers. My car is strange because its a german import. LHD.Mulberry paint and leather with climate control heated seats. but 1993 model. all came as standard from wolfsburg. got the german stuff to prove it. Has never been resprayed, label is still in the boot.
