Whirring/whining noice when cold on VR6

Recommended Posts

Hi all I have a standard 95 VR6 with 63k on the clock, and when you start it from cold and the car has been stood overnight/all day,and you are just pulling away in 1st into 2nd there is a whinning/whiring noise which speeds up as you drive away,it only does it for about 30sec or so then it is fine no noise at all.I thought it was the drive belt being dry so sprayed it with silicone spray but it`s still there, could be it be the bearings in the belt tensioner as it does sound like a dry beraing kind of noise as I say after a few seconds its fine are there any other bearings that could be dry? it doesnt sound like its "inside" the engine gearbox ,other that that the car starts drives great..many thanks for any info..

Thanks for that didnt think it was anything major just the didnt notice it a few months ago, then it started then it stopped now it has started again, with the car idleing the motor is very quiet and when you blip the throttle its still quiet just whilst driving off it makes the noise,oh well maybe just one of things sounds a bit like a power sterring pump on full lock (but car going in a straight line)...thanks again Xyber
