2muchchedder 0
hey everyone-love the vr but got a few probs that i would like your advice on (gotta say the advice i get here is better than any garage):my vr6-1996 N reg with 70000 miles on clock full VW service history until i bort it last yearcouple of times when driving it felt like it was misfiring when i put foot down no matter what gear i was in-it struggle. but when i turned engine on and off again it was finetoday engine wasnt cold but went to start it but kept cutting off as soon as it started even when i tried to keep revs up...only started wen left it in gear and pulled off straight away. if i turn engine offf it happens again. but later on it was fine. this happens occasionally-i doubt its spark plugs-a mechanic told me over the fone that could be air flow meter?also noticed for some time now-every now and again i get sulphur smell like fuel burning on the CAT. is this lambda sensor?do all these probs sound like ECU or coil pack? the leaads were changed last year-VW. how much is an a second hand ECU? is it worht using 2nd hand ecu?can i change ecu for a superchip?sorry for all the questions
Eat this 2
the coil pack causes missing under load ie foot down in gear iv not heard of it causing stallin though so sounds like 2 probs to me ul get much better answers than mine though m8 hehe good luck
mightyvr6 0
it could a be a few things: cam sensor, maf, lambda sensor, coilpack. Probably best to get it on the diagnostics computer to eliminate these. Wouldn't have thought it was the ecu but these do occasionally go wrong too. I'd check the plugs and leads first and then hook up to vag-com to check for faults.
2muchchedder 0
cheers for advice. ive taken car to NS Racing before-they and steealth racing are meant to be the best for vr6.they should have a diagnostics computer shoudnt they? or is it only main dealer who have access to diagnostics computer? leads are pretty much new-will change plugs though.
