SiGainey 1
Can someone double check if I've got things in the right order and the right way up (I know I'm missing springs lol) as I want to get the shcoks built up and ready to install in one easy hit (ie pull old ones out, install new) as I dont have much time at a weekend and can build the shocks up in an evening etcShows the threaded bush (28) above the top rubber mount (25) but surely that isn't right - it's spring-> spring cap -> bearing (with curved bit pointing up into the base of the top mount) -> top mount -> threaded bush (to hold it all down) then through the body and another mount & nut.Is this right or am I being an idiot !?! thegoth 5
Shows the threaded bush (28) above the top rubber mount (25) but surely that isn't right - it's spring-> spring cap -> bearing (with curved bit pointing up into the base of the top mount) -> top mount -> threaded bush (to hold it all down) then through the body and another mount & nut.Is this right or am I being an idiot !?!To my eyes the digram shows (28) going onto the shocks before (25) but after (21)
SiGainey 1
Howdy I agree but is the correct way (21) then (25) then (28)?

amazak 3
Anyone know what tools are required to get the job done? Springs are already on the shocks. Watched my mechanic do my old cars in the past and would like to give it a go.Thanks
SiGainey 1
You need a 21mm socket to undo the top nut then there's 2 18mm bolts at the bottom of the strut, remove, then use spring compressors to compress and remove the spring then re-assemble. Not a massive job if you've got the right tools. I undid the top nut using one of these (http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/cir13c-1-2in-impact-wrench-kit-12v) and it did a great job. No more faffing around with 7mm allen keys and deep ring spanners What you have to do is get the wheels aligned afterwards - I did a rough and ready alignment using a spirit level on the wheel
amazak 3
Are you sure you don't need allen keys when using this baby? I thought you needed the allen key as that was the only way the nut would release? ill get one tomorrow if that is the case,

Phat VR6 3
was going to say leave the strut on the sub axal and remove ball joint, drive shaft, track rod end, This way you dont upset the camber
amazak 3
Phat VR6, that sounds difficult, prefer the standard method, but £60 for camber adjustment is a joke! In South Africa it is £25 complete with alignment!
