Cowpatmatt 0
is the clutch slipping??Standard clutch will be fine unless your planing on putting a supercharger on with over 280bhp.yes gearbox has to come out.yes the timing chains and tensioners can then be replaced once gearbox is out.hope that helps. Mackenzie 6
Mine started doing that about 3 months ago. The biting piont feels like it's about 1cm away from the top end, i was worried and thought i should get the clutch replaced but i didn't have the monies on me. It's been fine for 3 months but it has just started to slip every now and then. I know the standard clutch is a good one, but would a performance clutch last longer?

Phat VR6 3
Wait till it starts slipping then take it somwhere. You can check the guides by removing the timing covers and just checking them for wear.If your putting a new clutch in its probaly the first one its had fitted. They can last for well over 100,000 miles, I donno if performace once last longer but standard ones are ment to be good for 250bhpMine started doing that about 3 months ago. Cowpatmatt 0
i brought the clutch for £80 from gsf car parts.i got someone else to fit it, i was going to do it myself but its been way too cold outside to do it. so i just gave it to a clutch specialist to do it. cost about 200 plust vat to do.I didnt do the chains because i didnt have the money at the time. i wanted to but i was planning to do it after chrismas when i have more time. With the coilovers they are still really good!i had mine set pretty low as you can see in my sig pic, but still could go lower. i have now raised it a bit at to front because the wheel was rubbing on the arches on tight corners, doesnt help having 17" wheels.setting 1 is the softest and it is really comfy but still hold the road like glue, setting 6 is the hardest and the handling is amazing but on a long journey on motorway can be abit annoying because i found i couldnt sit steady enough to adjust the stereo volume...lol.It only takes 5 mins max to adjust the setting.takes about a week or two depend on how much you drive for the springs to settle. good idea to check bolts and stuff are still tight after a week or so. none of mine were loose but always best to be safe rather than sorry.hope this helpsMatt
