Charged vr6 0
Hi there guys, I've been told that the VR suffers from a common problem, which is that the oil cooler can give up/have a cracked gasket which can cause it to mix the oil and water? Can some one shine some light on this, as i don't know the full story. My problem I am loosing coolant, mayo in my oil cap, and steam out the back, all that is telling me its the Cylinder head which has given up or is about too. But i've been told to look at the oil cooler as that could be the cause. Is that true?? As i am loosing engine oil from somewhere, over a few days or so its drained out to nothing..Any ideas? Phat VR6 3
Sounds like the head gaskit to me! The oil cooler wouldn't make steam come out the exhaust! Is there anyway you can disconect the oil cooler from the coolant, buy past it or somthink, See if that stops the loss of coolant and mayo in oil cap.Lossing alot of oil though. My guess is its coming out your exhaust due to headgaskit. Whats your coolant look like?
xyber 1
Its an annoying one this as VRs are funny engines and mayo in the filler cap when the weather is cold and damp and they car is only used on short runs is common, mine does it ever yearThe oil cooler/heat exchanger is a piece of crap which I have now got rid of and fitted a proper oil coolerIf it is the oil cooler failed it should be fairly evident as you will have oil below it as theyes plenty of places around it for oil to collect if its leakingThe steam from the exhaust maybe where the oil has taken on the moisture from the air and is now evapourating when running, I know what you mean mine in the mornings looks more like steam than smokeThink id go to a decent local garage and and get it sniff tested, then if thats in the clear, buy a mocal oil cooler and delete the standard one forever
