i think an rs6 would keep me happy ;)

with all the bits mine would come to £66,000 and group 20 insurance !!!!!

would have to be a huge amout of cash for that

Hi Olly

Have had a drive in a 2.7 Bi-Turbo S4? I did last week and to be honest I didn't find it that quick - esp compared to a Shricked N/A VR6 (never mind my old Golf). It's a heavy car and the power delivery is quite lazy. It's probably more fun with stage 1 or 2 remap - but as you know modding cars is a slippery slope!

Hope you find a car soon!

Cheers

Mina

mina, not had a drive in one yet, im not going to waste anyones time untill i have sold my car and got a bigger loan. Yep the S4's are 2.7 V6 bi-turbo. I can understand them being a bit sluggish as standard (about 280bhp) but like you say, an AmD remap take power to about 320-330bhp and 350lbs torque. That should make it a bit more lively !

The only mods will of course be the engine remap, new alloys and a milltek dual pipe system

(and possibly the K04 turbo upgrade pushing power to 400bhp and beyond)

Not trying to put you off but every Audi I've ever driven has been so bland. They just don't seem to drive with any precision and the steering feels dead.

I hope that performance Audis don't drive like that as I think you would be disappointed. They may be quick but are otherwise absolutely characterless. That's what makes the vr6 good; it has an engine full of character and drives with precision.

Have you considered any other makes, maybe a Merc C43, BMW M3 or something by Porsche?

Sorry to hear you're letting go of the VR6, Olly, but the S4 is a good choice as a replacement.

The only comparable alternatives are the Jap-rockets.

I've been looking at the "bug eyed" Scoobys and these are real bargains for £10-£12k. Suburu's styling mistake has worked to our advantage here. A £300 headlamp kit sorts out the front-end looks nicely anyway.

Very, very tempted...

Now here's an alternative within the price bracket, although not quite as quick as a Scooby (unmodded) ;) the Integrale Evo like the VR has bucket loadsa character and a sweeeeet lump up front!

I know it may never start and will probably fall to pieces being made by Italians but it's a cool car and goes like a rocket, i seriously was considering buying one before i bought my Golf :P
