chief 0
Hi everyone, bit of an odd one this, literally just got back in from being out, but managed to get the VR stuck on a speed bump that was bigger than it looked, anyway, literally after getting off the bump theres a strange rattle that sounds like a spring when the clutch is depressed or whenever the car is setting off...is this likely to be something as simple as an exhaust mount or is it something serious? it was the mid section of the car that got beached if that helps??Cheers in advance!J
jezmoz 0
only way to find out is to get it up on a ramp really. or Jack it up and get under and take a look.

chief 0
found out what it was....not sure how to descibe it though, basically the speed hump tore a bracket that runs across the car under the exhaust that apparently is meant to catch it if the exhaust falls off...not sure on the proper term for it though...Anyone know if this is going to cause an issue rust/ rot wise??J
thegoth 5
I know the one.As for rust it will depend on what sheared. My guess is that the heads will have popped of the bolts having rusted through. In which case the risk will be minimal IMO. Again if the bar snapped leaving each end intact I wouldn't worry either,If the bolts have come out altogether then it prob would be worth a little effort to protect the area, certainly try to replace them simply to block the holes, Or if the underseal is obviously gauged. And finally, neither of my MK3s have the bar any more, after the heads popped off during exhaust work so don't worry about that either.TG
