re-mapping a standard vr6 -is it worth it?

Recommended Posts

This has probably been asked loads, but would it be worth re-mapping a standard car without any other mods?

I dont want to spend much money as the vr6 is only a winter run around, but feel like the engine is very restricted. Also after reading various things about induction kits, they dont seem to do anything but change the noise - so cant really see the point if i'm not planning anything else further up, ie schrick vgi manifold (which costs virtually the same as I paid for the car).

any ideas of re-mappers around the leicester area?

cheers,

Richard

the car is odb1 1993, I have read that chipping the early engine can have some gains as opposed to the odb2.

not too sure about drilling holes in the botton of the air box though?

wouldn't it be better to to get rid of the air box altogether & have something like a pipercross sponge filter mounted down next to the bottom of the radiator, piped direct back onto the MAF housing?
