to diff or not to diff?

Recommended Posts

I would suggest once into the forced induction and/or above 230-250 Horsies then is worth while especially as I think you are making it track ready.

I would suggest that if you have the pennies then why not as you'll soon decide you need forced induction anyway.

I have a rcolection someone is selling such a set up on here with a final drive and also there was If I recall correctly someone in PVW selling a set up also....

Remember it can always be added later once you have got the car running and set up as standard if you see what I mean...

I hope that helps

well i've actualy got 2 vr golfs just now,was gonna put the diff on the 'good' one i.e the road vr.the other one is the donor car a bought to rob it of it's mighty rare vsr manifold and as it's a LHD thus gonna be hard to sell on and i've aways wanted to to track days without worring about pranging my pride and joy so i've decided to keep old lefty as a track car.do you think the diff would be better on the track car then?

Up to you matey, but the advantage of a a diff is well known. It'll really help the car launch out of the corner and get all the power down without worrying about it spinning away. Also, you can get on the power earlier, as rather than understeering, the diff actually makes the car pull towards the apex. A mate has a Quaife on his VR6 Corrado which he takes on track occasionally. He reckons that apart from his Brembo setup, the Quaife (diff) has made him seconds per lap quicker.

I suppose it comes down to where you drive your cars the hardest: on the road or on track.

Stick it on the track car, then start saving for another for the road car ;)

I've a Quaife on the way very soon, I hope.
