veedubyah 0
hi ther, i have a 1997 golf vr6 highline with 93k on the clock. Im having problems changing gear with it seeming to hit 1st, 3rd and 5th rather than slotting straight in. iv been told it could be the clutch fluid may need changing. Is the brake and clutch fluid in the same reservoir on thr vr or are they separate reservoirs. Also if my clutch does need replacing i would also have the timing chains replaced while the gearbox is off. Having the work done at the volkswagen dealer how much should i reasonably expect to pay to have the work done.
Matt W 4
I would advise NOT to go to a dealer, i was reading the hourly rate at VW is something like 60quid and as they'll need at least a day to do the clutch and chains it'll be quite expensive.Have a look for a local VAG specialist and get a quote first, may be around the 600 mark but guess it depends from place to place.I have a similar problem with my gearbox too and i am pretty sure its to do with the cluth. And as far as i know the clutch and brake use the same reservior but not 100% sure on that...
