what engine oil do you use?

Recommended Posts

Just as VRs are hot engines. when the engine gets hot and the oil is up to temp it just gets really thin and the engine drinks it like fuel, doesnt last long at all and in that state wont lube up the engine very well

fully syn also has alot of detergents in it so it would clean gunk away from inside your engine that was sealing a leak, I have heard of people suddenly changing to fully syn on higher milers and the engine started to leak like a sieve and there is no way to stop it without a rebuild

i use 10/40's fully synth diesel oil lol, i get it from work for free and its diesel oil so it keeps the internals clean so no carbon build up it jus goes black as fook when i come to change it but i have been running my vr6 on it for a year no with oil changes every 2-3k and my engine is oil tight no leaks at all and im on 115k

I use to do that with my old mk2 driver with had nearly 200k miles on it, kept it nice and quite.

Previous used Silkolene Pro S fully synth 5w-40 in the track day vr... top stuff. Going to 10w-50 now though as she was getting a bit hot :)

The 'fully synth oils are thinner than semis' thing is a myth. God knows where it came from. A 40 grade oil at 80 degrees is by definition the same as any other 40 grade oil viscosity wise.
