VR6Nate 1
this is an interesting read.... i damaged my sump on sunday and it has just started weaping around the plug (as it has been ground flat)i need this little lot straight away..so from reading from the top i just need to order all the r32 stuff but the 4 motion dipstick and tube right??and this should cost approx £215.00....how easy is this to do i.e how long do i really need a ramp or could i get away with doing this with axle stands???cheers for the help
FishWick 21
Yeah just the sump and pump are the essentials.
Phat VR6 3
Made in steel so it can still take the odd knock.^^ yep easy job with axle stands, 3 hours max. sharky_70 0
does it retain the 5.5 litre capacity?does the R32 sump etc fit the 4mo 24v lump the same?
Phat VR6 3
No its the same as running on the min mark which is fine. I can retain the capacity but the extra work means it won be worth me doing it.Considering the R32 sump fits the 12v id say yes but I haven't tried it yet
MarkGolf 6
I got the shortened sump from bodge as pictured above! Fits perfectly with my R32 pump. I have an oil cooler in addition so it relatively keeps the standard oil capacity throughout the oil system. Cheers
webbstar 0
Does anyone know if the 24v 2.8l sump is the same as the r32 sump as I am putting a 24v lump in my car and needed to know if there is extra clearance to be had from a r32 sump. Also is the oil pump pickup any different in height betweeen the two?
JWYATT 0
Brillaint read so far , I see you said something about the pickup ? is this 100% alrite and working with the dipstick giving the correct amount so oil starvation isnt a worry ?Also just wondered if anyone has the part number for the 4 motion dipstick tube ? Joe
FishWick 21
No worries with starvation! If you use the part numbers listed, it will all work perfectly A 12V dipstick will probably be OK, but you may need to recalibrate the min and max marks.
powernut 1
regards sump r32 sump yes it will fit on the vr6 12/and 24v v6 u just need slightly longer bolts, the sump is deeper and baffled and sits lower , ps both r32/12vr6 oil pumps are the same too, but i pref the old steel ones, , take a bang without cracking
