robvr6 0
just wondering if anybody has got a scan/link to a wiring diagram for stereo because the wiring in my new addition leaves a lot to be desired, and i've got a kenwood screaming to be fitted, also whats the best type of connectors to join the wires ? spade or them bullet things (free from work!)[ Edited ]
acf8181 0
ok, the original speaker wiring works like this...the fronts - one wire goes from h/unit to dash speaker, then another goes from the dash speaker down through the big plug into the door speaker.rear (3dr) - wire goes straight from h/unit to main speaker, then another wire comes from main speaker upto the tweeter. robvr6 0
thanks, but ,was really needing colours for wires so i can rewire the thing,
acf8181 0
er, just check at the dash speaker...hopefully it'll say which is + and which is -, then compare it to where it meets the h/u
robvr6 0
d'oh ..... never thought o' that !
madmonkee 0
just buy the adapter for the car, for the kenwood H/U Look on the adapter and it will obviousl Look at the adapter and you will figure out the wiring for the car, one block will have Constant live(normally RED) Then switching live(yellow) Negative(black) Amp remote(blue) Tel Mute(yellow and Black) Orange(another +) Then plug it into the loom of the car and note which is what. The other block will be all the speaker cables, easy really
robvr6 0
thats what i was wanting to do but someone has chopped the plug off leaving a mass of wire,
danb 0
If you go to halfords and buy the connector blocks for a mk3 golf ( £10 ish ) all the coloured wires on the connector blocks should match the ones on your car , just join the same coloured wires together , saves alot of time and head scratching . robvr6 0
oh yes! hadn't thought of that, didn't realise they used the same coloured wires, i'll give it a try next time i'm near our local store, thanks
acf8181 0
you sure the halfords connectors use the same colour of wires?
robvr6 0
have just checked a halfords adapter for a ford, and the wiring is the same as the stereo, but doesn't really help that much because i don't know that the coluors match the vr.can't really see it being exactly the same..... danb 0
Soz thought they were . If i get chance 2moz ill pull my stereo out and find out what wire does what as ive got a Kenwood in mine so they should be the same as yours !
robvr6 0
cool, that would be a great help,
danb 0
Right ive checked for you , bare with me as someone at some point has cut the original plug off the loom and someone else has joined one back on again so ive had to trace the wire to the back of the dash . My advise is use a current tester aswell as the power leads are the same colour as a couple of the speaker lead kenwood loom = golf loomblack = brownyellow = red/whitered = brown/redorange/white = whitespeakersgreen = green/bluegreen/black = brown/redwhite = brown/whitewhite/black = red/whitegrey = brown/bluegrey/black = blackpurple = brown/blackpurple/black = red/green
robvr6 0
exellent, thankyou very much, i did manage to look inside the speaker grills today but there were 2 sets of wires to the rears,as expected, but strangely both sides were the same colour so will now have another look behind the h/u tomorrow and see what i can work out,and yes i have tester..thanks again for that
danb 0
You have two sets going to the rears because your tweeters in your back doors feed off the speaker . If you unplug one of the wires either the speaker will go off or the tweeter will .
acf8181 0
the wires form the the rear specker to the tweeter will be the same on both side...mine were. but the other wires going into the speaker should be different on each side.
robvr6 0
done it!!thanks to all who helped, only the rear drivers side speaker not working, will investigate tomorrow..
