alex1985blue 0
Hi All I am soon to be replacing my whole exhaust om my VR but I was wondering if the raceland manifolds make more torque and BHP fitting them or wheather I would loose out on either. My engine is a odb2 engine and the manifold is going to be coupled to a milltech exhaust.Kind regards,Alex
Dave Lea 4
when i fitted my manifold i found it puled harder after 4000revs
jaysVR6 2
Doubt you'll notice any difference to be fair mate. Although if it's your bag, it does sound nice and raspy.Upgrade your front engine mount too as they have a tendency to crack if there is excessive engine movement. Some also recommend wrapping them as they give off loads of ambient heat - depends if your serious about tuning or want it for looks alone.I had one ready to go on my old charged VR but never bothered fitting it, as there are so many threads on forums about if they actually gain anything at all. Try searching VW Vortex, as there was a very interesting thread about the whole thing on there from what I can remember.
alex1985blue 0
I am serious abut tuning,Once I have done the exhaust and sorted the air intake I will be wacking on a supercharger
jaysVR6 2
You wont need to worry about the air intake if your charging it fella as you'll be loosing everything before the MAF anyway. Unless your thinking about changing the inlet manifold for a short one at all?
philbatesvr6 0
some people say that the original exhaust manifold is more than up to the job , and because its cast is stronger as well, you can port out your exhaust manifold as the ports due to casting marks are slightly smaller then the ones on the block, i have done this to my spare one but i havent fitted it yet untill i get my modded inlet manifold welded up and ill fit them all together
alex1985blue 0
Thing is that I am not sure what is acually required to supercharge the car and what is needed for the different stages of supercharging.I have just posted a new post to find out what is required for the different stages so that I can avoid buying things that will be useless when i move on to supercharge it such as the air filter like Jay said.Cheers,Alex
alex1985blue 0
some people say that the original exhaust manifold is more than up to the job ' date=' and because its cast is stronger as well, you can port out your exhaust manifold as the ports due to casting marks are slightly smaller then the ones on the block, i have done this to my spare one but i havent fitted it yet untill i get my modded inlet manifold welded up and ill fit them all together[/quote']I was thinking about porting and polishing the head, but I have been told that it is expensive to do this.Do you think it is worth doing?CheersAlex
philbatesvr6 0
dont no mate it would as any thing tht helps the flow of gasses will benifit the car so yea,you will still need an air filter mate even if you supercharge you r motor
alex1985blue 0
but will the bmc cda induction kit fit both when the car is not supercharged as well as when it is though?Because at that price for an air filter I want to make sure that I could sill be able to use it once the supercharger is fitted
Radostormvr6 2
6 Branch is not worth it, theres no gain and they just break
alex1985blue 0
so basicsally, it costs around £160, gives no power gains and just makes the engine sound nicer. Is that about it? if so its not worth it
Dave Lea 4
it does make a gain , its more focused on the higher rpm bhp range .the differance is definatly noticable ceramic coating or heat wrap is needed to make achive the full gain .... mines not broke or cracked , with 200+ runs at Pod and nearly 2 years hard hard use!!
