dave_unreal 0
Am considering fitting an R32 exhaust onto my 4motion but I wanted to check a couple of things first.Hopefully someone will have done this before. Will it simply be a case of cutting off the old silencer and welding on the R32 one? Possibly with a sleeve of some kind if the bores are different? It won't be too noisy, will it?It's really for cosmetic reasons that I'm thinking of this. I'm not really bothered about any performance gains, and I don't want any excessive noise from the exhaust. (I removed the middle box on my VR and although it did sound sportier I got fed up with the drone at around 3000rpm)Cheers for any advice.
blackmagicvr 7
can be done quite easy, you have to remove the tow eye hook to accomodate for the other tail pipe, and if i remember rightly you can buy a section of pipe from vw about £20 to join it up to the cat section on your 4motion,no welding needed, you might have to adapt the spoiler for the tail pipe, and also block off the valve on the r32 exhaust, put one on my cousins 4motion sounds absolutly supurb!!! 6cylinder 0
I have done this mod on my 4motion,heres a quick sound clip i took of it last year.Doh,the guy who hosted it for me has removed it.But it does sound good when its under load.Definately worth while doing this. dave_unreal 0
Thanks for the pic. It even looks good with the normal 4mo bumper.I think I'll give it a go.
6cylinder 0
No probs m8,u will have to shorten the tail pipes as they will stick out like a wheel barrow.I shortened mine by 1 1/2 inch.
dave_unreal 0
I've actually considering an R32 style rear bumper as well. I've found this one online (hope it works as the auction has ended)http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=160211108010&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=006I take it I wouldn't need to worry about shortening the tail pipes if I do? 6cylinder 0
If u went for a r32 back bumper u would not have to shorten ure tail pipes. The only reason i didnt go for the r32 back bumper is because everyone has done that. Its getting a bit common now.
dave_unreal 0
Yeah I know what you're saying. I've already got an R32 front bumper though, it came with the car, and I've decided to finish the job and sort out the rear of the car.I know they are fairly common but IMO the best looking rear bumper. petervr6 0
ive also dont this sound very good i have put a vid clip on you tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQnEcwZaOTI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXAhl21-1Qg its really easy to do once the hold the r32 exhaust up to the origianl exhaust you can then mark were to cut it. then it wll just sleve over the orginal exhaust then trim the bumper oh and remove the tow eye only 4bolts.. dave_unreal 0
Cheers Peter it does sound good. I've actually organised an OEM r32 exhaust now, hopefully won't be long till it's fitted. How do you find the noise cruising along at say 60 - 80 mph?
6cylinder 0
Very very nice.U wont regret fitting it.

dave_unreal 0
My new exhaust should be getting delivered tomorrow and will be installed tomorrow night.Happy days!!Only prob is I've also ordered an R32 rear bumper, but wont be painted for a week or so. Basically means the exhaust is going to be a bit sticky outey for now. Will likely be selling the 4mo exhaust soon if anyones interested?
qsilver_za 0
http://www.youtube.com/user/leviathanzaI did this to my bora... check it out... original sounds than + normal R32 than + with resonator removed. Also the flapper is a great feature trying to work out how to get it working so I can control it from the car.I had to extend my pipes out and push the left one out a bit because of the tow hook. and I have got a stock valence which I am going to cut. I don't have any decent pics yet though
dave_unreal 0
To be honest I never got around to fitting it. I've got the r32 exhaust and a genuine R32 bumper sitting ready to go on, yet it's still the standard 4mo at the moment. It does sound good though eh? Nice and raspy without being too chavvy.
