Phat VR6 3
£150 just for a top coat at my local bodyshop for one bumper I was thinking more like £50-80.. I wont be using them... How can they charge that when all the laybor works done???
xyber 1
thats about right really, you may think the labour is done, but no sprayer would spray it without them giving it a going over first and they will charge more as although its a bumper its still taking up time in their booth
VR6_Absy 0
Both of Mine are in now for spraying, should be ready Wednesday, i'll let you know how much.

VR6_Absy 0
Forgot all about this. Front and Rear bumpers and a new Grille cost me £90 cash. The rear bumper had a lump which needed to be sorted. I'm chuffed with whats been done
Phat VR6 3
See thats the kind of price I was thinking.. Is that them doing all the prep work aswell.. Can't remeber if you got them smoothed or not but put some pics up
VR6_Absy 0
they're not smoothed, i took them off the car and removed all the lights and trim etcshop then prepped and sprayed
Jk* 0
I reckon i'd pay about £80 for a bumper to be sprayed. The only problem is if you are prepping it yourself is that they might want to re-do it again anyway. Therefore costing you the same, if not more depending on how well you did it. As they say, you get what you pay for. I always go with a figure ill pay in my mind and go from there.
nezzi21 27
im getting my front and rear bumpers done, both wings, both rear quarters and the arches done for 300quid.
vr6newcomer 1
the prices are all relative boys, if you know somebody, (not how we all know the local knock merchant) but a close friend or family member who is in the game, you will peobably get the best deal. ive been quoted £200:00 for my rear bumper, both arches rolled and sprayed, known the guy since i was about 7, so i know hes not gonno knock me, but as with all things, if your getting mates rates, then i have to be a bit flexible also, so he will need the car for a couple of days. So i guess you just need to speak to your mates/family and find out about someone reliable.
Samson 0
body shops are notorious for ripping people off, my mate in is the game and is always telling me stories of them over chargin people by a stupid amount so I always use him.Sometimes if he is rushed then the job isnt top notch but I just take it back to him and let him know, after that I get it back looking like it has come from the factory. The problem with prep work is that it is THE MOST important part of the job, if it isnt done right then some of the imperfections can/will show through, the paint wont key in and flake of a few months down the line etc etc so a lot of people usually go over it again themselves anyway just to make sure as otherwise it comes back on them doing a bad job if you know what I mean? Phat VR6 3
I think the paint its self is more exspencive than i first thought... Ive got another place down to £120... Anyway ive desided to do it myself now. I can the compressor spray gun ect for £300 so two bumpers and a boot lid down the line it should have payed for its self .. I just hope I can get a good job without a spray booth
