VR6_31 0
just undertook an engine swap putting a VR6 into my golf. One major problem that seems to be occuring is when driving, and when i put my foot on the clutch it is persistantly cutting out. However this doesn't happen all the time, it is been quite tempramental and doing it at awekward moments i.e. changing gear when comming up to junctions. This occurs whether the car is hot or cold.Any help welcome

gkjnr 0
try all the usual suspects first ie clean the maf the throttle body the idle valve and check all the connections to them all
Samson 0
Does it happen only whilst you are moving along?Does it happen at the same time as braking AND changing gear? or is it just when you change gear? Does it happen when chainging up as well as down the gears?Does it start up straight away again after cutting out?Does it run fine at other times, is acceleration nice and smooth, consistant and strong?Try to give as much information as possible mate. If you can answer the above questions as accuratly as possible then it will give me a better idea and more able to diagnose the problem.

Golf VR6 0
I have the exact same dilemma, have you solved the problem yet? If so what did you do?
Haydn 0
Def sounds like ISV, i have/had the same problem, its when the revs drop when u dip the clutch and the isv doesnt catch the revs on idle. Try getting another or blasting it out with carb cleaner
Golf VR6 0
I have an OBDII engine and read that this doesn't have an ISV but an electronic throttle body. Where do i go from here?
