robvr6 0
does anyone know what year the vr6 were fitted with traction control as a bloke at work is convinced that mine should have it, cars an early '93,
andy 0
it should have it as far as I know, it was the early ones that had it rather than the later ones
tommy 0
obd 1 cars have it, so yours should too check out this old thread about the tracton control system http://www.vr6oc.com/forum_viewtopic.php?2.699[ Edited Mon Sep 20 2004, 07:03PM ][ Edited Mon Sep 20 2004, 07:05PM ][ Edited Mon Sep 20 2004, 07:41PM ]
mk3anni 0
Could have sworn i saw a highline brochure(sp?) saying it had the EDL system.
acf8181 0
its not really traction control, its more of traction help.called EDL (electronic diff lock) it feels more like an LSD than traction control. what it does is apply the brakes slighty to the unloaded inside wheel as it breaks traction. it only works at low speeds, and only takes a mild bit of abuse before the wheels will spin anyway. it's fitted to all vr6's, regardless of year. tommy 0
QUOTE BY ACF8181 IN THE ABOVE LINKdepneds on what year your vr6 is...the pre'96 ones do, the '96 on don't have EDL. you should know if you have it as it almost feels like the car starts to tramline when your giving it some round coners...this may be the reason they (wrongly IMO) dropped it. a friend has a highline without it and i have MUCH better traction/grip in my '93 vr6. the way to tell for sure is to look for your abs control unit (the edl uses the abs sensors). on the early models its under the rear seats, if you look on the unit it'll say abs/edl, where as the later models have the abs control unit under the bonnet...these models don't have EDL. !dodge !dodge
acf8181 0
crikey, thats an old quote...since then i've found out the truth if you look on etka, the only control modules/pumps for AAA engine, even in late spec, do have EDL.[ Edited Tue Sep 21 2004, 11:20AM ]

mk3anni 0
So when i'm spinning the wheels out of junctions, is the loud clicking i get part of this traction control thingy?

mk3anni 0
yeah could be CV joints, but only does it when i'm spinning the wheels.
dubloke 4
thats prob because they are on their way out and not "clicking" all the time at the moment, only when you put undue pressure on the drive train by "booting" it outta junctions.turning the wheels and accelerating hard at the same time puts extreme pressure on the driveshaft/cv components! is there any need i have to ask, no quicker than getting on the gas early and accelerating hard once in a straight line, wheelspinning actually loses getaway time not creates it![ Edited Tue Sep 21 2004, 01:28PM ]
tommy 0
Not very good traction control then ................stone in the tyre ?! .....cv jounts will sound on full lock...the EDL system only works up to 40mph and is controled be the abs![ Edited Tue Sep 21 2004, 01:41PM ]

acf8181 0
eeeek....sounds like diff about to implode to me mk3anni!don't spin the wheels with lock anyway...thats a sure fire way to kill the diff (which always takes the whole 'box with it)

I have a VERY bad reputation with gear box's' date=' but then again if i do kill it it certainly won't be the first box i've destroyed.Tried tonight driving round with the wheel at full lock and got nothing, but i'm 90% sure the sound was from the drivers side corner, so we'll see!!!!![ Edited Tue Sep 21 2004, 06:03PM ']
