goonersteve 0
Do you think that with the recent changes in car tax, pre-2001 performance cars may begin to increase in value due to increased desirability? e.g. if someone currently owns an R32 and doesn't want to get ripped-off with the tax, they may look at replacing it with a supercharged VR6. :^)
bulldog 2
Intresting, it may well turn out that way, then raise the prices of older cars as you said.
thegoth 5
should certainly help stop the current slide due to fuel prices.
vw_golf_vr6 0
i totally agree with this, any sensible car dealer will be buying up mint pre 2001 cars and raking in some nice profits next year

Ben Seabrook 4
Good point mate and I do agree with you that people will start to look at earlier cars in order to avoid these huge car taxes - but on the other hand if you can afford to buy a modern performance car I am sure you won't be worried about another few hundred quid of tax !! thegoth 5
but on the other hand if you can afford to buy a modern performance car I am sure you won't be worried about another few hundred quid of tax !!true but people who's budget only stretches to a 7yo 4motion will probably think again and go for a late VR instead. I can think of at least one VR6OC member who would have done! Hi Pat ;-)

goonersteve 0
but on the other hand if you can afford to buy a modern performance car I am sure you won't be worried about another few hundred quid of tax !!It's also the principle of it though. Some people may be able to afford it, but if it p*sses them off that much (which i'm sure it will for alot of people) then they will find a way around the system, just to stick two fingers up at the government i.e. buy a pre-2001 car which gives off as much carbon as poss! vw_golf_vr6 0
yep its going to happen for sure, there are tonnes of decent pre 2001 cars to choose from, in fact i wouldn't buy a new car even if i had the money

vr6madmike 0
Id have too have at least 400bhp to warrant the extra tax if I bought a newer car, otherwise it wud have too be a remaped dev of some kind, the vr is a bit of a bargain now IMO,
tinny22 11
been a dub fan for 20 years now(old sh*t) always wanted a vr but the price was to high them days now the price is so low its a give away. but the mk4 R32 is coming down i will keep waiting to the price is right but this big road tax con with bills and all the other taxes and petrol prices. but i could not afford 400 pounds road tax insurance on a R32 . but if government does not get in will these road go ahead hope not still want a R32tinny22

Although i do hope it works in our favour obviously
pimpcat 0
i dont think it will make much difference as people want newer cars plus a standard vr6 is more to insure than a 4motion
Ciaran 4
Na to honest i would buy any car if the tax is 400 so be it to be fair it's only 14 hours wages out of a year not all may be so lucky but that is my view the government hate people who are sucessful and enjoy their money so fcuk them i will spend my oney on want (rant over )
bobda 0
Have you seen the prices of VR6s on Autotrader lately? They've gone up, seriously!
